Shape Up and Fly Right, Chapter 2, Page 56

Dad then shared a devoted kiss with mom, and he gave me a kiss on the cheek, and Paul a manly hug. Just before he and Andrew began to make their descent down the staircase, Dad spoke with heartfelt emotion, “I want you all to pray, because as bad as things may seem right now, without prayer it could be a whole lot worse. Love you.” On the verge of tears, Mom was the first to reply, and then we all joined in. “Love you too.”

Dad turned to Andrew and, taking command of the situation, said, ‘It’s time we see what they want.”

Author’s Commentary

Speak Truth to Power”, but what do you do when you happen to speak the truth, and a rogue government has all the power. This is the predicament Lily finds herself in at 3:00AM in the morning. The authorities are demanding access into Lily’s world of wholesomeness and the love of family.

The corrupt state which vehemently takes issue  with the truth in the Lord, when only the lies of the government will do. Unfortunately this is Lily’s dilemma, and what is left to her once all else is taken away. No love of family, or home sweet home, and gone from her immediate surroundings is the morality of a Biblical world view.  All that is left to her is the clothes on her back, but in Lily’s dire situation this may be a trivial detail to some, but to Lily it is a great tangible blessing.

But O, how prayer becomes Lily’s most valued constant trustworthy and true companion, knowing that whenever she should call on the Father, He is there in the name of His Son. The love of God is as close to her as a thought, or a feeling. She even perhaps mouth’s her heartfelt prayer in silence, with her tears a most precious sincere devotion.

On the encroachment by the pawns of that aged old enemy “That Old Serpent”. Prayer is automatically second nature to Lily, and she is comforted nobly by God’s blessed assurance. He the Lord shall be with her always, as it is written in Matthew 28:20, Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even until the end of the world. Amen
