Thou Art With Me

Chapter 2, Pages 71, 72

[1] I kept pretty much to myself from the start, and when the possibility would arise when we could talk without fear of retribution, I rarely took the time to socialize. I thought my antisocial attitude was perfectly understandable considering our sticky situation. Prayer was now my constant companion, and what a blessing it was to know the Lord was there whenever I should call. And as I completed the task assigned to just me. I’d replay in my mind scripture.

Still Waters Pages 71, 72

[2] On this particular night what came to mind was Psalm 23:1-6, The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still water.

[3] He restoreth my soul: he leadeth in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea though I walk through the valley of shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Cup Runneth Over Pages 71,72

[4] Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Holy Scripture

Revelation 22:17, And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Author’s Commentary

[1] Lily was brutally taken against her will from the warmth of a loving home. But so much more was snatched away from her. All her secret lifelong dreams she held dearest to her heart. The intense stare of a lovers gaze, or all her dreams of hearth and home were snapped up from her in the blink of an eye in one night.

Left to collide with the willing puppets of the enemy, “That Old Serpent,” Lily is ill-fated to a life of misery and servitude. She  is held captive, and along with her so goes all her heartfelt dreams. But knowing she could never betray her Faith in the Word of God for earthly freedom.

Author’s Commentary

[2] She knew there would be no escape for her from this “Global Wicked Enterprise,” and her only real true possession was her freedom in Christ Jesus as it is written in John 8:36, If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

The distressing adversity on Lily’s emotional well-being left her pretty much functioning in a bewildered haze, and for a time all she could manage was the comfort she received from her daily prayers as it is written in 1st Peter 4:7, But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
